READING THE BIBLE

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him, and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men,” John 1:1-4 (AMP).

The Word is God’s expression of His person, His information on the things we ought to know, His directions as to what we must do, and His warning against the things we must avoid. From eternity past to eternity to come is the Word, and the Word is God. In other words, God and the Word exist as a single entity. Hence, when we are meditating on the Word, we are inhaling the Lord and exhaling our sinful nature. The more we read and meditate on the Word, the more we will be occupied with the Lord.

Anyone who believes in God will certainly believe His Word. And anyone who believes in the Word believes in God. Likewise, anyone who disbelieves the Word cannot believe in God because God and the Word exist as a single entity. Some people claim to have faith in God but they do not believe what the Word says. In fact, the person who does not believe in God does not believe the Word, and the person who does not believe in the Word does not believe in God either, for God and the Word are inseparable. It is impossible to believe in one while disbelieving the other.

The Bible is God’s Word to us; it comprises the expression of God and the story of some people’s walks with our Lord in the past. Since God is unchangeable, so His Words remain sure and immutable. For this reason, the Word of God is repeating itself from generation to generation. The Lord seldom speaks in a new way. If we underestimate the Bible, the written and living Words of God, we will only have ourselves to blame. Even so, God speaks to us through dreams, visions, prophecies, tongues, and our spiritual senses, but we must not overrate them to the Bible. It is important to note that any prophecy or tongue that contradicts the Scripture is a deception of the enemy.
