Reading the Bible – Sylvanus Godspower

What do I mean by the word: “The Subject Matters of the Bible”? They are the biblical information about God’s eternal purpose for man, the biblical truth of what the Lord wants us to be in words and in conduct, the biblical knowledge about the Lord, and the biblical instruction on how to activate our faith in order to tap into the Lord’s anointing for our liberty and the superabundant supply of all our needs. Examples of the subject matters of the Bible are salvation, the transformation of our lives, righteousness, holiness, the love for God, the will of God, faith, depending on God, healing, the kingdom, the body of Christ, the spiritual gifts, the church, etc.

For instance, we want to study about healing. The first thing we must do is to personally conduct a detailed research about this subject. This is searching for scriptural quotations that speak on the matter of healing. Please note that the revelation we receive from the Lord, whether deep or shallow depends on how we conduct our research. When diligent, we will receive deeper revelation; however, we will end up having a shallow revelation if we act in slothfulness.

To make a comprehensive research, we must gather several quotations related to the matter of healing both from the Old and the New Testaments. Then we will categorize the quotations according to the aspects they covered on healing. Afterwards, we will find a suitable heading for each of the categories based on the aspect they treated. Here, we are done with the first part of studying the subject matter of the Bible.

Now, let us move to the second part, which is meditation. Meditating on God’s Word is occupying our mind with a particular Word and the intent of our hearts being placed solely on that Word for some time in order to receive light, insight, and revelation about it. In this stage, we must meditate on the quotations in the various scripture grouping until we receive a deep revelation about the subject we are studying. Thus, the Lord will open our minds to understand the Scriptures and build us up in the faith. This is the way to make rich deposits of the Word in ourselves, refresh our Christian life, and deal with all clouds of doubt and unbelief in our hearts.
