LUCIFER’S REBELLION AND HOW HE DISORGANIZED THE EARTH
Lucifer was the anointed archangel. He dwelled on the mountain of God and walked in the midst of precious stones from the day he was created (Ezekiel 28:13 – 14). He was guiltless in his ways until he exalted himself and wanted to raise his throne above the stars of God, desiring to make himself like the Most High (Isaiah 14:13 – 14). Lucifer then became so corrupted with sin that he rebelled against God. As a result, the Lord God cast him and all the angels who joined in his rebellion to the ground (Isaiah 14:12; Jude 6).
The name “Lucifer” means Day Star. After his rebellion, Lucifer became Satan, which means the adversary of God.
When Satan was cast down, he disorganized the perfect nature of the earth and filled it completely with darkness (Genesis 1:2). The Recovery Version translation of Genesis 1:2 reads: “But the earth became waste and emptiness, and darkness was on the surface of the deep.” This indicates that, the earth was in order at the time of creation. However, it was later disorganized as a result of Satan’s rebellion.
Again, Jeremiah 4:23 says, “I looked at the earth, and there it was, waste and emptiness; and at the heavens, and they had no light.” It must be noted that Satan’s rebellion did not only disorganized the perfect nature of the earth but also reduced the standard of the elements of heaven. For this reason, the Lord will melt heaven with its elements with great heat, and burn up the earth and the works that are in it at the end of the age (Second Peter 3:10). Then He will bring forth a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness, peace, and joy dwell (Revelation 21:1).
As Satan originated sin; he is the genesis of sin and the father of all sins. He causes man to know and commit sins. For this reason, the blame and the burden of sin forever be laid on him (John 8:44; First John 3:8).
