Effects of Sin on Our Prayer Life – Sylvanus Godspower

Description

One of the works of the Holy Spirit in us is to connect our human spirit to God in prayer. The mingling of the Holy Spirit with our human spirit supplies us with prayer life. Hence, all believers have the life of prayer. We must maintain high standard of spiritual living for the growth of our prayer life.

Our prayer life is very sensitive to sin. Sin kills the effectiveness of our prayer life. A person who deliberately and habitually practices sin is separating himself from God by his act of disobedience. Sin damages our conscience and makes it guilty. Once our conscience becomes guilty, we cannot have the boldness to approach God. Sin does not only damage our conscience, it also quenches our desire for prayer. Whenever sin weakened our prayer zeal, then we struggle to pray. Thus we do not have even a word to offer. Hence, a person who wants to have a healthy prayer life must not tolerate sin in his life.

I lost appetite for prayer for a number of years which I considered to be normal. When I came across this spiritual book, I have come to the realization that having no appetite for prayer is not normal but rather it is sin, quenching my desire for prayer.
